The tongue-twisting name derives from the latin spelling of their hometown Charleroi (Belgium). However, the music sounds very Jamaican, it's 1969 style skinhead Reggae with heavy hammond organ, to be precise. People, who like the Aggrolites will deeply enjoy this music, too.
The musicians of THE CAROLOREGIANS are partly wellknown, cause they are also members of the Moon Invaders, the great Roscksteady/Ska band from Belgium and Luxemburg. Especially Nicolas Leonhard, the songwriter and drummer of both bands, is responsible for this new project. He organized versatile instrumentalists to realize this charismatic band. After a few successful shows in their region they recorded first a 7"-EP ("Super Bikini" - already released on the new founded Grover Supreme Label!) and also a complete album to be released in November 2006 on Grover Records with the promising title "Organic Coal Beat From The Groovy Mines"
Who listens to the EP or the complete album will know very soon how deep THE CAROLOREGIANS' understanding for the authentic sound of the early Reggae period is. Really impressive. And who is now interested to see them on stage, will have many opportunities. E.g. they are part of the "Skankin' Round The X-Mas"- package in the end of December.
line-up (on stage):
Matthew Hardison: vocal, rythm guitar
Michael Bridoux: lead guitar
Jean Debry: bass
Nicolas Leonard: drums
Stephane Orban - organ **
