Hardcore/Ska/Metal band from Saginaw Michigan

Absence was formed in the early 1990s in Saginaw, Michigan. Saginaw's cover band scene inspired Absence to create a unique sound of their own, mixing punk, hardcore, metal and ska into their own brand of musical aggression. Taking cue from the punk scene at the time, the three vocalists mixed and mashed their own styles to form one collective effort to spread a positive message through their lyrics. Absence's sound ranges from fast aggressive punk to melodic experimental, all inspired by each individual in the band. As the band progressed so did world events leading to an even more aggressive style. The band was always looking for ways to change its sound, which lead to an unpredictability that kept listeners on their toes. Absence played many shows in the state of Michigan. All major cities were played including Flint, Grand Rapids and Detroit along with many shows and parties in the Saginaw area. Trips to Minneapolis and Maryland inspired Absence to try a short east coast tour. The band recorded over 70 original songs during its life span capturing almost all of their work. Several songs would be forever lost while the band was trying to hone its sound. Soon after the east coast trip, the band split due to personal differences and family commitments.
